Bill Cleaveland Addresses Solutions to Area Problems
A Common Sense Approach to Today’s Challenges

Roanoke, VA—William “Bill” Cleaveland, candidate for the Republican nomination for the 17th House of Delegates district today released a position paper covering three major topics of concern to area voters—economic development, education, and transportation

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

  • Initiate and support public/private partnerships to bring new jobs to our region while working to retain the ones we already have
  • Work with localities to promote our region and its people as we compete nationally and internationally for new businesses

EDUCATION

  • Support parents as they select the best educational setting for their children, including public, private and home schooling
  • Support co-operative ventures between schools and businesses to insure that our students are prepared for the “World of Work.”  These opportunities will give our students hands-on experience as they explore their future job possibilities.

TRANSPORTATION

  • Improve our infrastructure (roads, rail and air)
  • Fund our transportation improvements with revenue generated by new gas and oil drilling off Virginia’s coast.  This new revenue source will keep from placing additional tax burdens on our families.

Through his door-to-door contacts and by meeting with groups of  citizens, Cleaveland continues to listen to their concerns as he develops common-sense solutions to solving these issues.
